Daddy's Day

So every year I feel all this pressure to make Father's Day special for all the dads in our lives and it becomes stressful and I feel guilty for not going all out (like a surprise trip or something).  But then everything turns out fun and we get a weekend to enjoy family (what it's really all about).  On Saturday afternoon we went to the Weslings for dinner, swimming, and ice cream.  The girls had a blast in their new pool and the ice cream was even better!
Working on trademarking this pose (you'll see it throughout the blog)
Enjoying her new princess table
Brooklynn finished first, so she could dig into everyone else's ice cream - smart girl!

On Sunday morning we met the Deegans and Startzels at Cherry Creek Reservoir for a beach day, well as close as we get here in Colorado to a beach.  The kids played so well together building sand castles, playing on the playground, and even making sand angels.  It's so neat to watch them get older and interact with each other so well.  Chandler tries so hard to be one of the "big kids" and she's almost there!

Our view of Chandler's wedgie all day!

Sunday afternoon was our celebration for dad at our house.  The girls were ecstatic to see cousin Kenz and play with her.

My favorite pic - dad set this one up and the girls loved it!

After all the celebrations were over I was definitely exhausted - a whole day of diaper duty, cooking, and cleaning.  Oh well....at least it's only one day of the year!  Our dads all deserve a day to relax as a token of our appreciation.  Steve - you are an amazing daddy.  Even though I'm jealous you are the favorite I'm glad they love you so much!

More Summer Fun!

Tuesday we took Brooklynn to the Rockies game for mom's belated Mother's Day present.  We knew Chandler would never be able to sit through a game, so she stayed at home with grandma and grandpa.  Brooklynn started in a suite with Steve (a fancy work thing) and then headed our way after stuffing herself with peanuts!  She was excited to see her man - Tulo and pig out some more!  We loaded her up on licorice and then daddy brought her some ice cream.  Needless to say she didn't fall asleep until midnight, but we had a great time and even saw the Rocks win!

On Friday I took the girls to the local outdoor mall by us to try the train ride (which I can't believe we've never done until now).  The girls absolutely loved it, and next time I'll remember to bring swimsuits so they can run through the fountains.

Family "Stay-cation"

We really wanted to get the girls out of town for a little vacation and we knew there was no way we were lugging them across the country on a plane with Chandler's inability to sit still for more than 5 minutes, so Colorado Springs was our weekend getaway!  We left Saturday morning, so we could arrive in the Springs for naptime.  We were able to find a one-bedroom suite, so that made sleeping with 2 nappers a little better.  After naps we drove to Garden of the Gods Park and did some light hiking with the girls.  It had to be light, because they were so heavy to have on our backs!

 Such a beautiful place!

Sunday morning we got going early to check out the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.  Brooklynn was so excited, because she knew she was going to feed the giraffes.  I was shocked by the zoo - I was expecting a little scenic zoo, but it was fabulous!  You're so close to the animals and feeding the giraffes was the coolest part!  Both girls could've stayed and fed them all day!
She has no fear of any animal!
We even petted a baby wallaby
 Just had to do it!
The grizzly bear was so close swimming that Chandler actually got a little scared!
They each got their faces painted by some kids that volunteer and accept donations.  Brooklynn got the ladybug and Chandler a butterfly!
The must-ride carousel every zoo trip needs
Lastly we rode the sky ride - which made us nervous with our squirmy little Chandler, but she actually sat still the entire time just wore out from the day.
Sunday afternoon we drove to Sam's Club, because Steve's man-crush Tim Tebow was in town for a book signing.  We packed up the girls, but when we got there we were welcomed by a line of hundreds of fans who had been waiting all day.  Oh well!  At least we got to see him!

Monday we packed up to go to the North Pole before heading out of town.  I vaguely remembered going there as a kid and thinking it was the greatest place in the World!  Brooklynn was so excited to see Santa and his reindeer.

She's ready to go with her backpack
The North Pole was a perfect place for the girls.  All the rides are geared to little ones, so they could actually ride them together or alone (and a few with us).  They did really well riding them alone!
 Brooklynn loved the ponies
Brooklynn's favorite part - seeing Santa.  We actually had to visit him 3 times throughout the day.  She could've done without the rides - just to see Santa was enough!
 On the boats
Chandler passed out from being completely exhausted, so we took Brooklynn to feed the animals, which was her 2nd favorite part.  She's not our thrill-seeker, but an animal lover!
The "official" North Pole - it's actually a pole of ice - pretty cool!
Although there's lots to do with the kids in the Springs, we were ready to come home and rest!  Even though we only traveled an hour and a half it truly was a vacation and so much fun for us all.  I think we'll have to make it a yearly trip.

Finally Zoo Time!

Although we've had a cool, windy spring, we were finally able to get out and enjoy a beautiful day at our favorite summer hangout - the zoo!  We picked up grandma at work and brought her with us.

Keeping her eyes on the gorillas (who were very playful and running around)

Best Girls!

A couple weeks ago we had our "Nobody's Pregnant, so Let's Celebrate" girls' night out.  It sounds strange, but it's been about 4 years since we've had no pregnancies in the group!  We had a great time at The Rio for dinner and then downtown to the Tavern for some drinks, dancing, and great people-watching!  We even rented a loft for the celebration.  What a great group of friends - love ya ladies!
