My girlfriends and I had been talking about a girls' trip for a long time, but somehow there was always a prego or 2, making it difficult. Since
all most of us were finished, we thought a relaxing long-weekend to wine country would be a perfect, relaxing trip for some busy mommas. After months of planning over coffee at Starbucks, the weekend was finally here! Eight of us flied to San Fran, rented a mini van aka "Blanco", and rented a beautiful home nestled in the small town of Glen Ellen, right outside Sonoma for some R & R.

Our house (smelled so beautiful from those fresh Wisteria flowers)
We had a great time drinking wine and cooking together in our beautiful kitchen!
We knew we were in trouble when we were this close to so many wineries. This sign was literally just down the street from our house.
Which one to choose?
While Denver received a foot of snow, we were soaking up the sun eating our meals outside!
For some reason we they were motivated to go running in the mornings bright and early. I declined the first morning, but after I saw this pic of the scenery, I decided I'd get my lazy butt the next day to see it. One of the most beautiful runs ever! The Sonoma valley is just gorgeous everywhere.
The first day (after our pedicures) we went on our first wine tour to
Benziger. It was the most recommended tour, and now we know why. They do all Biodynamic farming, so it was awesome to see not only their vineyards, but their insectary, ponds, and sheep - all critical in the process of keeping their farming "green".
Our guide was dying to get this shot and she finally found the perfect group!
Photo Bomb! Carrie and Josh just moved back from Cali, so she drove up and joined us for the day.
Uh oh.......(note: save this pic for Baby Thompson in 18 years)
We finished the tour with lots of tasting and even a Harlem Shake (the 1st ever in the caves).
The next day we drove into the town of Sonoma to check out the square, which was really cute and quaint. We started with a tasting at Roche Winery for some yummy red wines!
After lunch the party moved to Jacuzzi Winery, which was outside of town, but had some of the most beautiful vineyards.
What a view!
On our last day we headed to Napa for a private, exclusive tour with Laurel's friend, Todd, head winemaker at Bryant Winery. The winery is closed to the public, so no tastings, tours, etc. We felt pretty special. They also don't sell their wine publicly, but rather only to their wine club members, which is small. Each bottle is $400....wow!

Lots of barrel tastings ($400 wine is delicious)
What a great end to an amazing trip! We had so much fun, probably too much. Most people were very surprised we were all mommas - maybe that's a bad thing. It was a perfect way to kick back and have some fun with 7 wonderful ladies! I know we'll be talking about this trip for a long time and looking forward to planning the next.
